Terms of use

Last updated 5 October 2026

These terms are the rules for using Deciple. By creating an account or using the site, you agree to them. They are written in plain English on purpose; if anything is unclear, write to [email protected].

Deciple is run by the Deciple team, a small group of volunteers. See also our Privacy policy and Staying safe.

Who can use Deciple

  • You must be 16 or older.
  • Church accounts are for people who look after a real church. We check each request before approving it.

Your account

  • Choose a username that does not reveal who you are.
  • Keep your password to yourself. We send no password reset emails. If you forget your password, write to us: an admin can give you a one-time password once we are confident the account is yours (an email address added at sign-up helps here).
  • You are responsible for what happens under your account. Sign out on shared devices.

Be kind: the rules

Deciple is a Christian community. Everyone is welcome, but please respect what this place is for: disagree gently and never mock. Do not:

  • harass, threaten, bully or frighten anyone;
  • post hateful content about people for who they are;
  • post sexual content, or anything that sexualises children;
  • share someone else's personal details — real name, address, photos or meeting places — without their permission;
  • post exact addresses of homes or private meetings in public rooms or public places;
  • spam, advertise, scam or ask people for money;
  • pretend to be someone else, including the Deciple team or a church;
  • break the law, or help others to;
  • attack the site: break in, overload it, copy it in bulk, or get around limits and bans.

What you post

You keep ownership of what you write and upload. You allow us to store it and show it to the people you share it with, only so that Deciple can work. Do not post things you have no right to share.

Moderation and appeals

Anyone can report a place, a message or a person. Moderators and admins review reports and may dismiss them, warn you (you get a notice from the Deciple team in your chats), hide a place, remove a message, suspend you for 1, 7 or 30 days, or ban you. A suspension or ban signs you out everywhere and removes you from rooms.

We decide case by case and try to be fair. For serious harm — threats, sexual content involving children, putting someone in danger — we may ban at once.

If you think a decision was wrong, write to [email protected] with your username and what happened. We will look at it again.

Limits that keep things calm

To stop spam and abuse there are limits on how often you can sign up, sign in, post, upload and report, and new accounts have smaller limits for their first day. Some words are hidden automatically, and links cannot be posted in rooms.

Gifts

Giving is voluntary. Crypto gifts cannot be refunded, because a blockchain transfer cannot be reversed — check the address and the network before you send. We do not issue tax receipts. How gifts are used is published on Financials.

No guarantees

Deciple is offered free and as it is. We work hard to keep it running and safe, but we cannot promise that it will always work, never lose data, or keep you safe from everyone.

As far as the law allows, the Deciple team is not responsible for losses that come from using Deciple, or for what other people say or do on it.

Leaving, or being removed

You can delete your account at any time on My account. We may suspend or remove accounts that break these rules. We may change or stop the service; if we plan to shut it down, we will try to give notice so you can save what matters to you.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top and announce big changes in the app. If you keep using Deciple after that, you accept the new terms.
